Direct Billing for Naturopathic Care
Naturopathic Doctor in Victoria, BC
Dr. Meghan van Drimmelen is a licensed naturopathic doctor providing evidence-based care for women, children, and families at Juniper Family Health in Victoria, BC.
We offer direct billing for many extended health insurance plans to make accessing naturopathic care as simple as possible.
What is Direct Billing?
Direct billing means we can submit your appointment claim directly to your insurance provider on your behalf.
Instead of paying the full appointment fee upfront and submitting the claim yourself, your insurance provider pays their portion directly to the clinic (when eligible).
You are only responsible for any amount not covered by your plan.
Insurance Providers We Direct Bill
We currently offer direct billing for many major extended health insurance providers, including:
-
Manulife
-
Sun Life Financial
-
Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan
-
Canada Life (formally Great West Life)
-
Pacific Blue Cross
-
Maximum Benefit
-
Johnston Group
-
Johnson Inc.
-
Green Shield Canada
Insurance coverage and direct billing eligibility may vary depending on your specific plan.
How Direct Billing Works
-
Bring your insurance card or policy details to your appointment
-
We submit your claim electronically at the time of your visit
-
Your insurance provider confirms the amount covered
-
Any remaining balance (if applicable) is paid at the clinic
When You May Need to Pay Upfront
In some cases, direct billing may not cover the full appointment fee. This may occur if:
-
Your plan covers only a portion of the visit (e.g., 80%)
-
Your coverage limit has been reached
-
Your plan requires a deductible to be met
-
Your insurance provider does not allow direct billing for naturopathic services
We will always inform you if any out-of-pocket payment is required.
Services That May Not Be Direct Billed
Depending on your insurance provider, the following services may not always be eligible for direct billing:
-
Laboratory testing
-
Nutritional supplements
-
Certain injections or therapies
If direct billing is not available, we will provide a detailed receipt for you to submit for reimbursement.
Receipts & Insurance Claims
You will always receive:
-
An itemized clinic receipt
-
An insurance receipt showing any amounts submitted or covered
These can be used for reimbursement, tax purposes, or health spending accounts (HSA).
Multiple Insurance Plans
If you have more than one insurance plan, only one plan can be billed per appointment. You may submit claims to secondary plans independently if eligible.
